These HART® enabled, loop powered temperature transmitters incorporate a large easy to read digital and bargraph display in addition to the analogue 4/20mA and HART® digital outputs. Optional loop powered backlighting further enhances display visibility in poor lighting conditions.

The transmitters accept resistance thermometer, thermocouple, resistance or voltage inputs and may be configured using the internal push buttons or via HART® digital communication. They can be supplied ready to install with customer specified calibration, scale and tagging.

When protected by a Zener barrier or galvanic isolator the intrinsically safe BA474D and BA478C transmitters may be installed in any gas hazardous area.

The BA474D transmitter has a certified galvanically isolated intrinsically safe input (associated apparatus). When the transmitter is installed in a safe area, the input may be directly connected to an RTD, THC, resistance or voltage source located in any gas or dust hazardous area without the need for a certified Zener barrier or galvanic isolater, thus significantly reducing the loop cost. See Reducing the cost of Hazardous area temperature measurement and display article.

The Ex nA certified BA474ND also has a certified galvanically isolated intrinsically safe input. When the transmitter is installed in Zone 2 the input may be directly connected to an RTD, THC, resistance or voltage source located in any gas or dust hazardous area without the need for a certified Zener barrier or galvanic isolater, thus significantly reducing the loop cost. See Reducing the cost of Hazardous area temperature measurement and display article.
